It is fair to say that the downstairs hallway and upstairs landing radiators have the toughest job out of all our interior radiators.
Proud. Practical. Pleasing
It is fair to say that the downstairs hallway and upstairs landing radiators have the toughest job out of all our interior radiators.
These radiators are responsible for warming the area of the home closest to the front door. Or are busy keeping a comfortable and consistent level of warmth in the part of the house we most consider our place of retreat; outside our bedrooms, where drafts and cold spots cannot be tolerated.
For these two areas of the home, Radiator Outlet adores and recommends the vertical radiator!
Like the title of this blog describes, these radiators stand loud and proud on our walls in sophisticated homely shades, stealing glances from visitors with their stylish aesthetics and modern upright positioning.
The vertical radiator is an attractive choice for both narrow and open hallway/landings, keeping this style of radiator in a top position among designer radiator trends for all kinds of home settings.
There is no doubting that the vertical radiator in comparison to its horizontal counterpart is more practical in the busy family home. This entrance hallway often doubles up as a cloakroom/shoe station/bike bay/junk mail drop off…and so on…So, choosing a vertical radiator in this space is a smart move to keep the appearance of your hallway more orderly, or to free up wall space for other uses.
The entrance hallway, as well as being your first port of call when leaving and entering the home, is also the entryway where first impressions are made for your visitors. So, it is worth paying this space a little extra attention considering both appearance and atmosphere, as well as the warmth of the greeting.
By evaluating the direction of air flow in your home you can suitably choose the position for your vertical radiators and using a BTU calculator or seeking advice from a home heating specialist, you can ensure the right size and quantity of vertical radiators for your space.
Radiator Outlet has an impressive size catalogue in each of our vertical radiator categories. Our single panel designer radiators are perfect for the smaller perhaps more enclosed hallway/landing. Whilst our larger double panel designer radiators are the recommended choice for bigger and more expansive hallways and upstairs landing areas.
Our vertical radiators are available in modern style or the more traditional style and come in a bold shade of black, attractive anthracite or raw metal grey, as well as our popular classic clean white. These shades will complement all colour palettes, but if you are unsure what colour is the perfect fit for your hallway/landing… just reach out and we will help colour match for you.
In my home, I consider the upstairs landing radiator to be the most important in the house. The floor plan of my home provides an open balcony landing in a horseshoe shape, so a large open space that requires consistent even heating. On the upstairs landing I have a Radiator Outlet 1800 x 383mm (3 column) in raw metal grey embellishing a naturally understated grey painted wall. A colour which begins in the downstairs hallway by the front door and continues upstairs on to the landing where it is complimented by a dark feature wall, modern industrial style decorative pieces and a small skylight. This radiator heats a space of 4 metres squaredand does the job perfectly.
Opposite this radiator on my open landing is the family bathroom. I specifically keep the door of this room open throughout the day and night when not in use. Between the landing heater and my modern double panel white vertical radiator on the bathroom wall, I am greeted every morning/evening by a cozy sanctuary on my landing and beautifully warm bathroom. This is consistently achieved by these two radiators working together.
For me personally this is bliss and one of those essential simple pleasures which would be missed should it not be the case. The key to keeping a house comfortably warm in these areas in my opinion, is to understand the direction of air flow in your home and have your radiators work together. When decorating these spaces, i could not recommend the vertical radiator highly enough for their save spacing ability and attractive contemporary style.
On the wall they really do stand proudly in these ‘hallway’ settings.
